 From the estate Ensign George H. Gay these classic high quality Battle of Midway The Turning Point aviation art prints are now over 20 years old and were found still in mint condition after being in storage for many years. They have been stored flat in acid free materials and have never been framed.

 The Turning Point aviation art prints were signed in pencil by the late Ensign George H. Gay and Signed and numbered in pencil by the Artist John Ficklen. The overall Dimensions are 26 inches wide by 19 inches high and the Edition size was only 600. Each print comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and a Letter of Origin signed by the Grandson of Ensign George H. Gay.

 The Artist, John Ficklen was one of the pioneers of early high quality aviation art. John was one of the first to have his aviation art prints signed by the some of the greatest aviators in history.

 He often refers to his work as aircraft portraits, and his paintings reflect months of extensive research and His mastery of meticulous detail.

 John has worked with many aviators and the list includes Pappy Boyington, Gen. Jimmy Doolittle, Maj. Steve Ritchie, and my grandfather Ensign George H. Gay.

 In Addition to John S Commissions and Limited Editions, He has also illustrated a History of U.S. Flying Boats which has been published by the Naval Institute.

 A Native of Atlanta, John is a former Naval Aviator and was a pilot for Eastern Air Lines. Besides doing paintings another of his favorite hobbies is collecting propellers. A quote from John "These old wooden props represent aviations earliest days. There will never be any more of them, and they are a part of aviation history that must be preserved".

 John has always been involved with airplanes. The son of an aviation pioneer, John began drawing planes and building models when he was six years old. Many of his models have won national awards, and he has been commissioned by The Smithsonian to build for the National Air and Space Museum. John has combined his lifelong love of aviation and his unique artistic talents and is one of today's most popular aviation artists.
